It seems pointless to explain why I'd kill for such a great actor to be in my film. James Purefoy is the essence of cool. He can be funny, calm, murderous, manipulative and visceral.
So in our western ( I know what you're thinking) called 'The Last to Fall', we created this character, Frederick Cornell. Cornell is written with James in mind. He's the opposite of our main character, Nathaniel. He's British, for one. He's part of progress, of change, in a time when the west could be owned by anyone. Cornell is a man with means who goes from town to town, taking out small businesses like Nathaniel's and replacing them with mass produced products. Replacing them with the future of industry.
Cornell is the confident, suave, handsome guy who just owns everyone. He has no fear, no doubt and no mercy.
I love this role for James because of his tenacity and depth. I'm writing this in the hopes that maybe he, or someone he knows will read it, and consider playing a small role in our little indie film. I hope that something small like this, in our first feature, can lead to something bigger, when we have the opportunity to create bigger movies and bigger roles.
Here's hoping.
